Irresponsibility a new American standard
The caption for the LATimes.com story, Finally, green means go, states "speedier than the regular V-6, Honda's 2005 Accord Hybrid puts do-gooders in the fast lane."
Since when did responsibility become synonomous with doing good? Doing good goes beyond responsibility, doesn't it? Has American society crumbled to the point that irresponsibility has become the norm?
Doing good, or being a do-gooder, goes beyond responsibility, it means doing more than you are responsible for. It is pathetic that the American auto press is so stuck in the SUV box, that the irresponsibility of purchasing an SUV, or some gas-guzzling European import, is not even questioned.
How sad that the press almost makes fun of responsibility while idolizing irresponsibility. I guess irresponsibility is just too easy and profitable.
Purchasing hybrid cars isn't just for do-gooders, it's also for those who just want to be responsible.
